Director of Ministries and Programs (FT)


St. Thomas Aquinas Parish is a vibrant, faith-filled community of over 3,000 registered families located in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. We are blessed with an engaged parish community, over 40 active ministries, and a thriving volunteer culture. Our parish also serves the students at Bridgewater State University and the campus community at St. Basil’s Chapel and Catholic Center.

We are seeking a passionate and faith-filled Director of Ministries and Programs to help lead, grow, and sustain our dynamic parish ministries, foster discipleship, and advance our mission of evangelization. You will need to work at the Parish office in Bridgewater.


Position Summary:


The Director of Ministries and Programs is a full-time, leadership role responsible for overseeing and supporting all parish ministries, programs, and volunteer engagement. The Director works closely with the Pastor, Parochial Vicar, and parish staff to create opportunities for parishioners to encounter Christ, grow in their faith, and live out their call to service.

This is a mission-driven position for someone with a heart for the Church, a love for people, and the organizational and leadership skills to guide and inspire others in ministry.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, support, and oversight to all parish ministries and programs.
  • Collaborate with parish leadership to identify needs and create new ministry opportunities.
  • Recruit, form, and support volunteers in their ministry roles.
  • Develop and implement strategies for outreach, evangelization, and community engagement.
  • Organize parish-wide spiritual, educational, and formational opportunities (e.g., Bible studies, parish missions, service initiatives).
  • Maintain a visible and welcoming presence at parish events, weekend liturgies, and social gatherings.
  • Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan safe environment protocols (Protecting God’s Children, CORI, Code of Conduct).
  • Oversee ministry communications, including content for the bulletin, website, social media, and parish publications.
  • Coordinate activities and liturgical needs at St. Basil’s Chapel and Catholic Center.
  • Develop and manage ministry budgets in collaboration with the Pastor and Finance staff.
  • Maintain relationships with Archdiocesan offices and stay current with policies, procedures, and best practices.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in theology, Pastoral Ministry, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in parish ministry, pastoral leadership, or a related role.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with a love for the Church and commitment to its mission.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and oral.
  • Creative, collaborative, and relational — able to inspire and lead volunteers of all ages.
  • Familiarity with the New Evangelization and contemporary approaches to ministry and outreach.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Canva, social media platforms, and basic website management.
  • Comfortable with (or willing to learn) audio/video equipment and live-streaming technology.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as parish life requires.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. for event setup needs.
  • Willingness to adapt and respond to the evolving needs of a dynamic parish community.
