Marriage Preparation
Couples wishing to be married at St. Thomas Aquinas must take part in a marriage preparation course.  You have the option of a parish-based course or a weekend retreat run by Engaged Encounter.  We will provide you with this information when you make an appointment to talk with us.  This course must be done before your wedding day.
The Ceremony
The following is information you will need to think about when planning your wedding ceremony:
  • Best Man
  • Maid/Matron of Honor
  • Rehearsal date/time
  • Number of Ushers
  • Number of Bridesmaids
  • Ring Bearer: Y/N
  • Flower Girls: Y/N
  • Alter Servers: You/We provide
  • Organist contacted: Y/N
  • Other musicians: Y/N

If you are choosing to have a mass, the following are the parts of the Mass you will need to decide on:

  • Entrance procession
  • Opening prayer
  • Old Testament reading
  • Responsorial psalm
  • New Testament reading
  • Gospel Acclamation and Verse
  • Gospel
  • Exchange of Consent/Wedding Vows
  • Blessing of Rings
  • Prayer of the couple (optional)
  • Prayer of the faithful
  • Presentation of the gifts
  • Prayer over the gifts
  • Preface
  • Nuptial blessing
  • Sign of Peace
  • Communion
  • Final blessing

All of the above will be talked about in detail when you meet with your priest.
